LINCOLN – The Board of Trustees announced four finalists in the search for the next chancellor of the Nebraska State College System (NSCS). Chancellor Stan Carpenter is retiring after eighteen years of service with the NSCS.
The chancellor search committee has publicly identified four finalists for the NSCS chancellor position. The finalists will visit Lincoln and participate in an interview at the Board of Trustees Meeting on September 30 – October 1, 2018. The final selection of the chancellor will be made by the NSCS Board of Trustees. The four finalists are:
- Thom D. Chesney, Ph.D.
- John L. Kuehn, D.V.M
- Rusty L. Monhollon, Ph.D.
- Paul D. Turman Ph.D.

The NSCS Board of Trustees will meet on Sunday, September 30 and Monday, October 1 to interview the four finalists at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln, Nebraska. View the meeting schedule in the board materials.
After interviewing all four finalists, the Board of Trustees will meet to consider the candidates and vote on Monday afternoon.
About the NSCS Chancellor Position
The Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive Officer of NSCS and the Chief Administrative Officer for the Board and the System Office and reports directly to the Board. The Chancellor is responsible for policy implementation and System administration by providing vision, leadership, planning, advocacy, coordination and management for the System with a commitment to quality management. The Chancellor directly oversees the presidents of the Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges and the NSCS vice chancellors.
